Zachary Alexander Rice- ZachRiceTV — MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Since its inception, Mattel Party on the Pier has provided unrestricted funding to launch high-priority programs that benefit boys and girls being treated at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA and around the world. Recent support has been directed towards clinical trials for teen and young adult patients in the pediatric hematology/oncology division, the development of new therapies for pediatric patients suffering from leukemias and lymphomas, and to support research in pediatric cancer predisposition and precision medicine. Additional funding has supported our hospitalists who provide hospitalized children with continuity of care in our Westwood and Santa Monica locations and our telemedicine program which works to connect our world renown pediatric specialists with partner hospitals locally and globally.

As a vital part of UCLA Health, Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA is a place where state-of-the-art care is delivered in a compassionate, family-centered atmosphere. Our general pediatricians work alongside leading specialists and subspecialists, and our physician-scientists discover new treatments and innovations that transform pediatric healthcare. The vision of this extraordinary team and the generosity of our dedicated philanthropic partners help ensure a brighter tomorrow for all children.

About Selina Smith

Selina Smith and Zachary Alexander Rice – Raising Hope for Epilepsy

Selina Smith, “I was 5 years old when I had my first seizure. A couple months later, I was diagnosed with Epilepsy. For many years my life was run by my Epilepsy.  Deciding what I could and couldn’t do. Yearly visits to my neuroligist for EEGs,  and medication that I had to take daily to keep my seizures under control. I grew out of my Epilepsy and was taken off my medication when I was around 13 years old. I am now 17, and it is my time to go back and help all those other children out there with Epilepsy. With your help and support, together, we can Raise Hope for Epilepsy!”

“Raising Hope for Epilepsy Chairty Polo Benefit”

Hosted by movie and television actor William Devane.

Organized with the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles and Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County. The event fact sheet, sponsor opportunities, response form and product donation form are attached.

Please help by supporting “Raising Hope for Epilepsy” – sponsor the event, buy tickets, contribute products for the event or auction, purchase space in the tribute book OR make a donation even if you can’t attend. Anything and everything is appreciated!

When I was five years old, I was diagnosed with epilepsy. After many years of taking medication and doctor visits, I finally grew out of my seizures around the age 13. I am now 17 and a student at Palm Desert High School. Now it is my chance to go back and help other children with epilepsy.

I have learned that, just in the U.S.A. alone, over 300,000 children under the age of 15 are affected by epilepsy. More than 90,000 of those have seizures that cannot be adequately treated. Epilepsy is a more serious condition than most people think. It affects not only the lives of the children but families as well.

With this benefit and your donations, we can raise awareness and try to lower that number and support research for cures. With your support we can fight against epilepsy, and fight for those families whose children have this disorder. Help me raise hope for epilepsy.

Proceeds from the “Raising Hope for Epilepsy Benefit” will support research and advocacy for childhood epilepsy and connect families to information and each other.

Sincerely,

Selina Smith Budinger
