READ MORE ABOUT SPARKS BELOW:
Clearly, comics have had an increasing presence at the theatre in the last few years, and 2013-14 looks to continue that trend. Hollywood is trying hard to court what they view as a loyal, established, customer base and it seems to be working. First quarter sales on comic books were up; 27% in periodical sales, 21% in graphic novel sales, and 47% in sales from merchandise. That means the industry had a total growth of 29% compared to last year. While other industries are falling, the comic market is cooler than ever and movies are adding fuel to that fire.
SPARKS is based on the independently released graphic novel series and has been adapted for the big screen by the series creator, Christopher Folino.
The feature film version brings together two of Hollywood’s rising stars Chase Williamson (John Dies At The End) and Ashley Bell (The Last Exorcism) who are supported by award winning actors Clancy Brown (Highlander, The Shawshank Redemption), Clint Howard (How the Grinch Stole Christmas), Jake Busey (Starship Troopers) and William Katt (Carrie, The Greatest American Hero)
It is a superhero noir thriller about a masked vigilante Ian Sparks who discovers the dark side to heroism. Going after the nation’s most notorious super criminal leaves Sparks’ life and reputation in ruins.
